Effect of nutritional intervention on compensation of diabetes mellitus type 2 in patients treated with insulin

Introduction: The topic of the bachelor's thesis is ,,Effect of nutritional intervention on the compensation of type 2 diabetes mellitus in patients treated with insulin". Diabetes mellitus is a chronic civilization disease, the incidence increases every year. Nutritional education of patients is one of the effective ways to help better compensation of diabetes. Aim of thesis: The aim of the work was to determine the effect of individual nutritional education on the compensation of T2DM in patients treated with an intensified insulin regimem. Methods: For the research were selected 14 patients with T2DM who are treated with intensified insulin therapy. These patients are visiting the Third Department of Internal Medicine of the General Hospital in Prague. All patients completed the study. They were divided into two groups. Group A was individually educated. Group B patients served as the control group. Glycated hemoglobin results were recorded at the beginning of the study and after approximately three months at the next follow-up with a diabetologist. Results: An improvement in glycated hemoglobin values was observed in the group individually educated group compared to the control group. Bariatric surgery and compensation of diabetes

Introduction: Obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus (hereinafter referred to as DM2T) are called the greatest epidemic of the 21st century. Its occurrence is on the rise not only in the Czech Republic but all around the world. Overweight and obesity are the key factors in developing DM2T, they are affecting the occurrence of the disease in men in 64 % and 77 % in women. Based on the observations, nearly 60 % of the population in the Czech Republic are considered obese or overweight. Bariatric/Metabolic surgery is one of the most effective treatments of the DM2T. Objectives: The objective of this thesis is to describe and analyze the effect of each bariatric surgery on the patients of 3rd Internal Clinic of Endocrinology and Metabolism, General University Hospital and 1st Medical Faculty, Charles University in Prague within the first two years post-surgery. The same time period is observed to monitor the DM2T compensation depending on the type of bariatric surgery. Methodology: 128 patients were observed (including 52 patients diagnosed with DM2T), that underwent the bariatric surgery. Physical activity education in case of individuals with 2nd type diabetes mellitus

Title: Physical activity education in case of individuals with 2nd type diabetes mellitus Objectives: The main objective of the thesis was to demonstrate the positive impact of regular and long-term physical activity education on metabolic parameters and physical fitness on individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods: For the research were chosen by physician four probands, who underwent survey using a standardized questionnaire IPAQ short version. Further testing was performed using walk physical performance test according to Stejskal, in which the heart rate was monitored with sporttester evaluation and laboratory parameters supplied by the diabetic clinic (blood glucose, glycated hemoglobin, lipid spectrum - HDL, LDL cholesterol, triglycerides). Production of results was done using statistical data analysis and graphical analysis shown in collaboration with the laboratory of sports motor skills FTVS UK, others the results are displayed in tables. Results: Education of physical activity is important for DM2T especially in the area of increasing physical fitness. In the output test, better results were reached than in the test input.
